How-to download youtube videos to Linux (specifically Ubuntu, but should work for others)

1. Install required software

sudo apt-get install youtube-dl

2. Run from the CLI

youtube-dl [options] video_url

3. If audio is all that is required, convert the webm file to mp3

ffmpeg -i nodame_theme.flv -ab 128 -ar 44100 nodame_theme.mp3
