This short tutorial will help you install Boxee HTPC software in Ubuntu Server 10.04 LTS 32-bit
The target machine is an HP T5725 Thin Client, 256MB ram, modified 4GB CF storage attached with a 2.5″ IDE to CF adaptor. It has a AMD Geode MX1500 1GZ processor.
I used two tutorials for this, the main one is http://forums.boxee.tv/showthread.php?t=21287 I didnt use Unetbootin, instead I used the installed Startup Disk Creator bundled on my Ubuntu Laptop. The install went fine, once you get all the dependencies.

server glx vendor string: NVIDIA Corporation
server glx version string: 1.4
Also, make sure you install the libvdpau1 (sudo apt-get install libvdpau1) package.
For best performance, don’t run Boxee from the start menu, but make a Boxee session from the logon screen. To do this, create a file:
with the following contents:
Now log out of your current session and while logging back in, choose Boxee as the session (right at the bottom).
These steps helped bring CPU usage down from over 150% to about 10% while playing the same video.
If that doesnt work try this http://forums.boxee.tv/archive/index.php/t-141.html
The job of editing video and adding effects is always time consuming – I don’t do it very often but on occasions need to add
